A jury found a Terrace man not guilty Wednesday of killing a former Prince George man.

Travis Leslie Stephens, now 32, had faced a count of second-degree murder in the Sept. 14, 2013 death of Eric Maurice Cardinal, 27, who was found shot to death in a home in the community of 10,656 people 573 kilometres west of Prince George.

Stephens was found guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault involving a woman who was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound. Sentencing will be carried out at a later date.

The outcome follows a trial in B.C. Supreme Court in Terrace that began March 14.

RCMP have said the incident was drug-related.
