A man in his mid-40s suffered a severe laceration to his leg as he was snowmobiling Sunday afternoon in the mountains Northeast of town.

Search and Rescue were called in to help the B.C. Ambulance Service when people in the party called in the injury via satellite phone at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

Two members of Prince George Search and Rescue were flown to the site by Yellowhead Helicopters and evacuated the patient to a waiting ambulance in Prince George.

An additional team of seven rescuers prepared to travel to the site by snowmobile as part of a backup plan in case the helicopter could not gain access to the injured man.
