RCMP in Jasper arrested two suspects less than seven hours after a robbery in Prince George on Saturday.

The two, a man and a male youth whose names were not released, were apprehended at about 10 p.m. in the Alberta town, 376 kilometres west of this city, in connection with thefts from a man delivering food to a Vanier Drive home that afternoon.

Called to the scene at 3:20 p.m., police were told two males not associated with the home attacked the man and fled with the food and his vehicle, Prince George RCMP said. When police were unable to locate the vehicle, neighbouring detachments were notified.

Both suspects are from Prince George.

"This is a great example of how detachments and police forces work together with the single goal of public safety," Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.

The investigation is continuing on both sides of the border and further details may be released as they become available, police said.
