Recruitment and retention of skilled workers is among the top priorities and challenges Prince George Chamber of Commerce members have identified for candidates in the municipal election.

Respondents to a survey selected the issue as the top strategic priority and as the main obstacle to doing better business in Prince George. Closely tied to the concern was Prince George's image and reputation outside the city.

"It's clear that this is a positive time in Prince George, when many businesses are looking to grow," Chamber chief executive officer Christie Ray said. "Our advocacy will now focus on these challenges our members have identified, so that they can continue to experience success."

Members representing 51 businesses responded to the survey. The results have since been sent out to all candidates running for mayor and city council.

Candidates have also received a list of questions representing Chamber member priorities and those results will be posted in the Chamber website once they come in.

On Thurs., Nov. 6, the Chamber is teaming up with the Prince George Citizen and CKPG to host a mayoral forum at UNBC's Canfor Theatre. The debate begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Chamber will host a second forum involving councillor candidates on Thurs., Nov. 13 at the College of New Caledonia, 7 p.m. start.
