The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation took a breather last night after raising over $50,000 in on-air donations during its 10th annual radiothon.

For 12 straight hours, a broadcast team from local radio stations 101.3 The River and 99.3 The Drive spearheaded the fundraising effort from the University Hospital of Northern B.C. atrium. They were aided by close to 100 volunteers

"Our community and the region it serves, has once again demonstrated that we have a special northern spirit and the results of this fundraising event will impact patients in a significant way," said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North.

This effort brings the total raised to date to over $400,000.

The money raised during this radiothon will go towards a pulmonary function lab.
