Two Quesnel men were arrested and both drugs and cash were seized by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia's North District office earlier this month.

The two - one 29 years old and one 34 years old - were arrested Sept. 13 in the community of 10,000 people 116 kilometres south of Prince George following an investigation that began in January when the CFSEU-BC received information regarding alleged drug trafficking.

Search warrants were obtained for their homes and a vehicle and police seized 728 grams of methamphetamine, two ounces of cocaine, in both powder and crack forms, $109,236 in Canadian currency, and drug trafficking paraphernalia, along with two knives and a machete from the vehicle. Numerous vials of liquids, suspected to be steroids, were also seized.

"While neither has known gang ties or criminal records, both are known to police for past history related to alleged drug trafficking and violence," CFSEU-BC said in a statement issued Friday. "Additionally, neither is connected to any other past or ongoing CFSEU-BC investigations."

Both have been released from custody on promises to appear, with formal charges from Crown counsel anticipated in the coming months.

Their names were not provided Friday.
