Province funds friendship centre’s Moose Hide campaign

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre's Moose Hide campaign will receive $24,000 from the provincial government, the the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation said this week. The funds can be spent over two years.

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre's Moose Hide campaign will receive $24,000 from the provincial government, the the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation said this week.

The funds can be spent over two years.

Intended to lessen the rate of domestic violence in First Nations communities, it provides workshops and activities for men that focus on violence prevention, sexual abuse, addiction and family support and features cultural practices and ceremonies for healing.

Aboriginal women are nearly three times more likely to be victims of intimate partner violence than B.C.'s overall population, according to the ministry.
