By the time 2017 is over, some long-running cases could come to an end.

Three of four people implicated in the 2012 death of Fribjon Bjornson, the Vanderhoof man murdered on the Nakazdli reserve near Fort St. James will be sentenced early in the new year.

In late August, Jesse Darren Bird and Wesley Dennis Duncan pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and in November, Teresa Marie Charlie pleaded guilty of accessory after the fact to murder.

The case against James David Charlie, who faces one count each of murder and interference with a dead body, remains before the court.

As well, a trial for four men accused of first-degree murder in the 2012 death of a man whose body was found in a Hart-area mobile home is set to go to trial in April.

Lyle William Baker, Kevin Roy Zaporoski, Bradley Douglas Barr and Dustin Allen Lindgren all face the charge in relation to the death of Jordan Christian Reno.

Meanwhile, convicted serial killer Cody Allen Legebokoff continues to rear his head.

After failing to convince the B.C. Court of Appeal he deserves a new trial, he's turned to the Supreme Court of Canada and has applied for leave for appeal to the highest court in the nation.

Whether that leave will be granted is expected to be decided early in the new year.

Also on the agenda, a voir dire to determine what evidence is admissible is set for March for Darren Sundman, Kurtis Sundman and Sebastian Martin, accused of first-degree murder in the February 2015 death of Jordan McLeod.

As well, a pretrial conference is set for January for Edward Owen Berry, the former manager with B.C.'s Ministry of Children and Family Development facing child pornography charges.

A trial is set to begin in July for Ryan John Moore and Kathleen Rose Slater a year after a trove of firearms were found in a Lorne Crescent home. Their arrests coincided with an end to a series of gunplay incidents in Prince George and Mackenzie, one of which led to the death of a man at a home in the Pinecone neighbourhood. No arrests have been made in the murder but a trial is scheduled for June for Meranda Leigh Dingwall, Kelly Michael Richet and Christopher Ryan Russell, each facing a charge of attempted murder from the Mackenzie incident, which occurred four days before the arrests of Moore and Slater.
