Power outage causes flight cancellations

Wet, heavy snow caused a power outage at the Prince George Airport Friday night. Backup power was available throughout the terminal as of press time, but there was no lighting on the airfield.

Wet, heavy snow caused a power outage at the Prince George Airport Friday night.

Backup power was available throughout the terminal as of press time, but there was no lighting on the airfield.

In an online statement issued by the airport, it said the lack of lighting meant conditions were too dangerous to take off or land in Prince George.

Several WestJet flights between Prince George and Vancouver were cancelled Friday night, and others were indicating they were delayed as of 7:30 p.m.
