Search to continue for missing woman

Prince George Search and Rescue will continue searching the Willow River area for a missing 49-year-old woman on Saturday morning.
Prince George Search and Rescue will continue searching the Willow River area for a missing 49-year-old woman on Saturday morning.
More than 30 volunteers, on foot and by all-terrain vehicle, spent Friday combing the area in search of Anita Florence Thorne, 49, who had not been seen since Wednesday morning.
Search and rescue groups form Vanderhoof, Quesnel and Mackenzie have also been asked to help out, PGSAR said in a statement issued later Friday afternoon.
"While the search has been suspended for the night, it will resume at first light with the continued help of at least 30 searchers," PGSAR said.
The search began Thursday morning after RCMP found Thorne's vehicle parked at the Willow River rest stop. PGSAR was called in after a search with the help of a police dog and then an RCMP airplane failed to locate Thorne.
Thorne is described as Caucasian 157 cm (5'2") tall, weighing 66 kg (145 lbs), with brown eyes and brown shoulder length hair. Anyone with information on where Thorne may be is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
