There was a single vehicle crash Thursday at around 2:44 p.m. about 15 kms north of the Hwy 39 junction to Mackenzie.

At the scene officers found a southbound Ford F350 pick up had lost control, crossed the centre line, went of the road and hit a power pole.

The 51-year-old Prince George driver died at the scene. The name of the deceased won't be released until notification of next of kin.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated. A mechanical inspection of the pick up will be completed to see if there was a malfunction or defect.

The inspection, along with the results of the collision reconstructionist analysis and findings from the BC Coroners Service investigation will hopefully provide the cause of the crash.

During the investigation things like speed, impairment by alcohol or drugs, and road conditions will all be taken into consideration.

If anyone was in the area at the time of the crash call 250-649-4004.
