Online poll respondents support Queen and country

During its most recent online poll The Citizen asked "Should allegiance to the Queen be a mandatory part of the oath for new Canadian citizens?"

Monarchists ruled the poll as 33 per cent of the voters said "Yes, the Queen is Canada's head of state under the constitution," for a total of 445 votes, while "Yes, the monarchy is part of Canada's heritage and culture" came in a close second with 32 per cent, for a total of 437 votes.

Not bowing down to the aristocracy with 24 per cent of the vote was "No, the monarchy is a symbolic position only," with a total of 325 votes and taking 10 per cent of the vote was "No, it should be optional and up to the individual" with a total of 141 votes.

There were a total of 1,348 votes cast during the poll.

Remember this is not a scientific poll.
