One killed in four-vehicle pileup

A four-vehicle crash involving a Greyhound bus on Highway 97 south of Kersley left one person dead and seven people injured on Friday afternoon, according to North District RCMP. Quesnel RCMP were called to the scene at 5:13 p.m.

One person was killed and seven others were injured Friday afternoon in a four-vehicle accident on Highway 97 near Kersley (144 kilometres south of Prince George) which involved a tractor, car, pickup truck and Greyhound bus.

A four-vehicle crash involving a Greyhound bus on Highway 97 south of Kersley left one person dead and seven people injured on Friday afternoon, according to North District RCMP.

Quesnel RCMP were called to the scene at 5:13 p.m., where the found a crash involving the bus, a car, a Ford pickup truck and a Kubota tractor pulling a piece of farm equipment.

All four vehicles were travelling north on the highway at the time of the crash. It is believed the driver of the tractor was killed in the accident.

The exact extent of the injuries was not known as of press time, but police said there were "numerous other people with injuries that have been described as minor to serious."

The cause of the crash was still under investigation but alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

A collision reconstructionist from Williams Lake and officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service was called to the scene.

The highway was reopened Saturday morning. Kersley is 144 kilometres south of Prince George.
