At about 9 a.m. Thursday, Quesnel RCMP officers who were attending another call noticed a man approach the South Hills area of the city.

When the man saw the police, he changed direction and headed back into a wooded area behind Cody Dale Road.

RCMP set up a perimeter, called for more resources and went into the wooded area where they located and arrested Gerald McLean, 46, without incident.

"I would like to thank all our media partners and citizens of Quesnel for their assistance and trust in the RCMP during the time McLean was at large in our community," said Sgt. Darren Dodge.

McLean was wanted for a parole violation.

McLean is expected to be transported to Prince George Regional Correction Centre later today by the BC Sheriffs Services.

The Quesnel GIS are investigating several files that may have involved McLean, including thefts and break and enters.

Most recently another break and enter was discovered at a vacant residence just two blocks from where McLean was located.

That incident is still under investigation.
