McBride was handed a $336,956 small community grant from the province Thursday. Valemount will receive $340,441.

The Robson Valley has received $677,000 from the province to help with infrastructure, administration and service delivery needs.

Both McBride and Valemount have been handed small community grants of $336,956, and $340,441, respectively.

The money will help communities pay for more policing, increased community safety initiatives, new equipment, infrastructure and service delivery priorities to meet local needs, Thursday's announcement said.

"As a Northern MLA for more than 15 years I recognize how challenging it is for small, rural communities to find the funds they need to invest in local infrastructure and services," said MLA Shirley Bond in a press release Thursday.

"Small community grants help to close that gap and make a significant difference in communities like Valemount and McBride. They also allow local councils to make the spending decisions based on their priorities."

Earlier this week, McBride was the recipient of a further $10,000 through the B.C. Rural Dividend.

It said it would use the grant for a feasibility study look into potential uses for a 15,000 square foot facility.

"They are looking for community ideas and best practices for economic diversification," the release said.
