Sentencing will be carried out once a pre-sentence report has been completed sometime in the next six to eight weeks.

In March, McGuiney, who has two previous convictions for impaired driving, was the subject of a protest by Pearson's family outside the Vanderhoof court house when he tried to change the terms of his bail, which include prohibitions against driving and consuming alcohol, according to the Omineca Express. His appeal was denied.
