A Prince George man earned national recognition at a skills competition this month.

Andrew Mueller earned bronze in network systems administration as B.C.'s competitor. He won that position after placing gold in the Skills Canada B.C. competition in April.

The British Columbia Institute of Technology student was one of more than 500 youth across the country to compete in the multi-trade technology competition.

His area of expertise requires knowledge of the hardware, operating systems and applications used to provide the functionality required in computer systems.

But Mueller wasn't the only one. A student from Correlieu Secondary in Quesnel also brought back bronze, but at the secondary level in cabinetmaking.

Avery Bell built on his success at the Prince George regional competition in March, then placed first in a provincial competition in April before taking third in New Brunswick.

"We are very proud to have supported Avery in achieving his goals in both Abbotsford, B.C. and Moncton, N.B.," said CNC Dean of Trades Frank Rossi in a statement. "We hope that his success will inspire other students to consider the field of trades and technologies and compete in our future Regional Skills competitions."
