A 20-year-old Prince George man died in hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in Quesnel on Thursday night.

RCMP said Mounties were advised at about 8:15 p.m. that a man who had been impeding traffic had been struck by a vehicle on Highway 97 South near Juniper Road.

The man, whose name has not been released, was wearing dark clothing and investigators have determined speed and alcohol consumption on the part of the driver were not contributing factors, RCMP said.

He was transported to G.R. Baker Hospital in the community of about 10,000 people 116 kilometres south of Prince George, where he was pronounced dead.
