The second annual RONA Kutthroat Construction competition raised $35,425 for three charities last weekend during the Northern B.C. Home & Garden Show held at the exhibition grounds.

B.C. Children's Hospital, the Parkinson's Society and the YMCA of Northern B.C. are the recipients of the funds raised as three home builders - Crimson Projects, MRC Contracting and Piche Homes - built over-the-top playhouses which were then sold at auction.

"The competition was an overwhelming success and we want to thank the contractors and their employee's for the absolutely amazing playhouses they built," said Ron Corbett, facilitator for the P.G. Parkinson Support Group.

"What fantastic vision, imagination and skill they displayed. It was an absolute honour to be a part of such a tremendous event.

"Also we wish to especially say thank you to those that bid on the playhouses and the winners; without their generosity it would not have been the success it was."

RONA donated more than $8,000 in materials to each builder to help with the cause.

Bragging rights went to Piche Homes, who took the title of favourite playhouse as voted by the guests attending the home show.
