A missing Prince George man has been found safe and sound.

Harvey Knippshild presented himself at The Prince George Citizen office to confirm his safe return, but offered no comment on the situation.

"We were sure he was fine, but we had to confirm that," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass who likewise refrained from disclosing the details of the case. "He made contact with us after it became known to him that police were looking for him and loved ones had become concerned for his well-being. He was able to put all those fears to rest."

It was originally reported on Dec. 15 that Knippshild, 67, had driven off from his home on Westmount Drive on Nov. 24 and had not been seen or heard from thereafter.

Police became optimistic when, during the period of disappearance, records showed the insurance on Knippshild's vehicle was renewed. His safety was confirmed soon after this transaction was detected.
