Smoke was coming from a home in the 6700 block of Westmount Crescent at about 11 a.m. Friday morning as Prince George Fire Rescue arrived on scene.
Crews from three halls responded to the call to find there was a fire in the kitchen on the second floor of the home.
Two residents were at home at the time but escaped without injury.
The damaged was minimized because the fire was extinguished quickly by fire fighters.
Indications say hot oil in a pan on the stove ignited and spread to the cabinets. Damage is estimated at $15,000.
Crews were on scene for about an hour.
