A local artist's small claims action against organizers of the 2015 Canada Winter Games and three Prince George automobile dealerships will head to a settlement conference after all four defendants denied her allegations in a reply filed at the Prince George courthouse last week.

The Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games Host Society and three Prince George automobile dealerships named in the action "deny any breach of contract in a lost sale and/or reasonable royalties" for Jennifer Pighin.

The four further deny the rights of Pighin to "any statutory damages" and damages for infringement of her copyright and moral rights.

Pighin is alleging the four breached a contract to use her work "non-commercially" when vehicles carrying 2015 Canada Winter Games decals that incorporated her designs were put up for sale following the Games.

She also alleges that even when they ceased selling the vehicles with the decals on them, her artwork was still being used in advertisements, a website banner and brochures, a pop-up ad and displays by the dealerships.

A settlement conference has been scheduled for July 10 at the courthouse. If the matter is not resolved, it will be taken to trial.

Pighin is seeking damages totaling $25,000.
