Four men are each facing a charge of first degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found in a Prince George home two-and-a-half years ago.
Lyle William Baker, 42, Kevin Roy Zaporoski, 47, Bradley Douglas Barr, 35, and Dustin Allen Lindgren, 26, all face the charge in relation to the death of Jordan Christian Reno, 22.
Reno's body was found in a mobile home in the 4100 block of Knight Crescent in the Hart on June 23, 2012.
All were arrested over the previous two days, Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown said Thursday during a press conference at the detachment.
A 29-year-old woman was also arrested but has not yet been charged and her name was not released. RCMP are also recommending Crown counsel approve a charge of first degree murder against her.
Other than to say investigators had been working on the theory that Reno was the victim of a targeted homicide with ties to the illicit drug trade, Brown provided no detail about what allegedly happened.
"We've gathered the facts, this will now be before the courts," Brown said.
A member of the Prophet River First Nation 100 km south of Fort Nelson, Reno had been acquitted of multiple weapon and assault charges in an alleged attack at Beatton River near Fort St. John in early May 2012.
Brown said Reno had been living in Prince George at the time of his death.
All four charged have criminal records.
Barr continues to face a charge of attempted murder in the September 2012 shooting of a man in the driveway of Northwood Pulpmill Road home. A trial on that matter is set for later this year.
Zaporoski continues to face charges for allegedly breaking into a local motel room in November 2013 and attempting to make off with a gun safe holding four rifles.
His criminal record includes a conviction for assault causing bodily harm.
Baker and Lindgren have convictions for minor offences but have faced charges for violent crimes.
Baker and Zaporoski were arrested in Prince George, Barr in New Westminster and Lindgren in Edmonton.
Brown said RCMP have been in touch with Reno's family.
"I can't speak on their behalf but I can suggest that today's announcement will give them perhaps the initiation of some closure," Brown said.
Brown said the investigation spanned B.C. and Alberta and involved hundreds of officers in one way or another, including providing resources and conducting interviews.
He acknowledged the contributions of the serious and major crimes sections of the RCMP in B.C. and Alberta, as well as the North District RCMP major crime section, the RCMP's federal serious and organized crime unit, the B.C. Combined Forces Special Investigation Unit, the St. Albert, Surrey and Northern Rockies RCMP detachments,  the New Westminster and Edmonton police departments and the Prince George Crime Stoppers Society.
Initial court appearances for the four are expected to occur by next week.
