Get ready for another savoury summer season of Foodie Fridays.

Once again, the City of Prince George is inviting licensed food trucks and sidewalk vendors to sell their prepared food during the summer months.

The outdoor food court around Veterans Plaza in front of city hall will be available every Friday from June through August.

Foodie Fridays was designed in response to local businesses who were interested in adding a new dimension to the city's downtown core to compliment the variety of restaurants and cafes in the city centre, according to Jen Tkachuk, the city's civic events coordinator.

The aim is to initiate more activity in the downtown core, to support local businesses and to provide a space to enjoy a variety of foods outside.

"Foodie Fridays helps to make use of the fabulous front lawn of city hall and give the thousands of people who work in the downtown area a pleasant, social, outdoor place to go for a casual lunch," Tkachuk said.

The city is welcoming food truck operators, restaurant operators and licensed food vendors.

"It's something a little bit different," Tkachuk said. "Everyone loves sunshine and eating delicious food amongst the trees and grass with music playing in the background. It's such a beautiful spot. It doesn't get any better."

For those interested in participating in Foodie Fridays, contact the City of Prince George at 250-561-7600.

Foodie Fridays will operate from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday from June 2 until Aug. 25.
