A Buckhorn-area home is destroyed after a Saturday afternoon fire.

The Buckhorn fire hall received the 911 call at about 3 p.m. Jan. 24 and arrived a few minutes later to find the house at 13475 Scott Rd. fully engulfed in flames. The fire was first reported by a helicopter crew flying over the home southeast of the airport.

A total of 23 firefighters from four volunteer halls - Buckhorn, Pineview, Red Rock and Ferndale-Tabor - were dispatched to help fight the fire.

Buckhorn fire chief Rick Hersey said the homeowner was not home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported. Hersey said a cause is currently unknown and there is no damage estimate, but that the home is gone.

"It was totally involved," said Hersey.
