The Shymanski family - Travis, three-month-old Peter, Angela and five-year-old Lexi - is holding a toy drive at Duchess Park playground this Sunday.

After Lexi Shymanski, 5, saved her mother Angela and baby brother Peter, three months old, when the car they were in crashed down a 40-foot embankment, the family decided to give something back to the community.

So when Lexi told her mother she wanted to donate toys to the pediatric unit that helped her brother, Angela started making the arrangements.

Peter's Toy Drive will be held at the Duchess Park playground this Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

People are encouraged to bring new games, toys, dolls, and stuffies with all proceeds going to the pediatric wing of the University Hospital of Northern B.C.

"We're so grateful for all the help we've been given by our community, we just want to give back," said Angela Shymanski.
