The Festival of Trees takes place at the Civic Centre from Nov. 25 to Dec. 4 this year to celebrate its 25th year.

The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation is in full preparation mode for its annual Festival of Trees event, which will take place this year at the Civic Centre from Nov. 25 to Dec. 4.

The 10-day festival is the biggest fundraiser for the foundation with more than $500,000 raised last year and more than $4 million raised since its inception.

"This year's Festival of Trees is taking on a northern aurora borealis theme," said Shirli-Gene Sadowick, event coordinator.

"This is a milestone year for Spirit of the North as they mark 25 years of excellent work in our community, and we will be celebrating that achievement throughout the festival."

The festival features favourites like the fashion show, senior's lunch and tea, the family-oriented breakfast and brunches, the dine and dance event for businesses and community groups and the gala fundraising auction where the trees at the festival, donated by local businesses and organizations, will sold to the highest bidder.

Brand new on the schedule is the Holiday Dinner and Dance presented by Dunkley Lumber that treats patrons to a turkey dinner with dance to follow with live music performed by Cariboo Thunder.

The gala auction will see a silent auction added to the live auction followed by a dance to finish off the evening.

Tickets for all the events are now on sale at the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation office, located in the lobby of the University Hospital of Northern B.C. at 1475 Edmonton St. or online at tickets.centralinteriortickets.com.
