Getting your business to higher levels is a week-long focus in Prince George.

The Innovation Central Society (ICS) is hosting three events to put local entrepreneurs in better touch with experienced business minds.

The first opportunity is Wednesday night when professional business mentor Kirk Hamilton - the executive-in-residence for ICS, and the Accredited Lead Mentor for BC Innovation Council - holds a dinner discussion between 5 and 7 p.m. It is part of the regular Venture Acceleration Program.

"He will be talking about customer development, commercialization, the value chain, and a lot of topics like that," said Marja Sheare of the ICS's Prince George office.

On Friday, an afternoon offering is available to entrepreneurs, as part of the ICS's Finance Friday series. It runs from 3 to 7 p.m.

"This workshop is all about the good, the bad and the ugly behind raising capital, orchestrating mergers and acquisitions, protecting your IP, avoiding legal pitfalls," Sheare said.

Then, Startup Venture Saturday runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the next day.

"This is a seminar basically explaining to companies how to grow through startup periods, the tools and the tricks of coping with the usual pitfalls that startups typically face," Sheare said.

All of these business development sessions are free of charge and open for entrepreneurs to register for by calling 250-562-9622 extension 108 or email contact@innovationcentral.ca. They are all held at the training and conference room at Community Futures, located at 1566 Seventh Avenue.
