Delays of up to a half hour are expected on Tuesday morning as part of bridge construction work on Highway 97, 30 kilometres south of Prince George.

The situation will last from 9 a.m. to noon, DriveBC said Monday in a posting.

The contractor is building a railway overpass and the work will involve installing bridge girders over the highway. "These are very large and require significant effort to install," a Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure spokesperson said.

It's part of the project to four lane Highway 97 from Stone Creek to Williams Road, which started in August 2015 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2017.

Drivers are encouraged to keep an eye on DriveBC.ca for updates should the schedule change.
