A Houston woman who slipped and fell in the parking lot of the community's high school two years ago is suing the Bulkley Valley school district for damages.

According to a notice of civil claim filed Monday with the B.C. Supreme Court in Prince George, Roberta Russell suffers continuing pain from the fall, which left her with fractures to her left forearm and a sharp pain in her tailbone and required surgery on her left wrist.

It's alleged the school district failed to take steps to adequately clear snow and properly apply gravel and ice to the parking lot and warn visitors it was slippery on the day of the fall, Oct. 29, 2012.

In part, she is suing for lost wages, future loss of earning capacity and medical costs.

The school district's board of trustees, and Grouse Mountain Trucking Ltd. and its owner, Robert Anderson, are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The defendants have 21 days from the day they're served the notice of claim to file a response.
