Police have closed Cottonwood Island Park because they suspect there may be an explosive device there.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and the RCMP bomb disposal unit has been called in from the Lower Mainland to deal with a possible explosive device in Cottonwood Island Park.

Prince George RCMP have cordoned off the area from Foley Cres to the overpass on River Rd., including the boat launch and railway museum.

"We ask that people stay out of the area and trail systems along the river until Police have disposed of the device and completed their investigation," RCMP said.

The man, who was arrested this morning, is known to police and has faced a similar charge in the past. His name was not released.
