City park users can reap the benefits of early spring weather starting Saturday.
The gates for vehicle access to Connaught Hill Park are opening a week ahead of schedule. From April through August, they'll be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in September and October.
Sports fields are also opening early. Instead of the traditional May 1 start date for the city's 100 fields and ball diamonds, they will be available for public use as of Monday.
Members of the public are asked to keep in mind that aggressive play on the surfaces can damage turf in wet conditions.
