More than 200 College of New Caledonia students are expected to accept their parchment at this year's convocation ceremony, which is being held at the CN Centre on Saturday, 1 p.m. start.

Graduates from a number of college programs will attend the ceremony, where they will receive their certificates, diplomas or associate's degrees.

Highlights from Saturday's ceremony will be the presentation of the Governor General's Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal, the Lieutenant Governor's Silver Medal, and the Mary John Award of Excellence.

The Governor General's Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal is one of the most prestigious awards that can be received by a student in Canada; it is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduating from a diploma-level program.

The Lieutenant Governor's Silver Medal is awarded to a student in a vocational or career program who has excelled in his or her studies and has contributed to the life of their post-secondary institution of their community.

The Mary John Award of Excellence is presented annually to a CNC student who strives to live with dignity while serving others and their community.

"These students have worked extremely hard to get here, and we are very proud to see them cross the stage" said CNC President, Henry Reiser. "Saturday's ceremony is a great opportunity to celebrate their success in front of their friends, families and fellow classmates."
