The College of New Caledonia will have an extra $1.5 million for trades equipment following a provincial government announcement Friday morning.

The money is part of a $185 million provincial pot spread over three years for trades training equipment and facilities. CNC will use the money to buy equipment such as welding tools, a solar array recorder system and a diesel engine.

"Thanks to this investment, students who attend CNC will have access to up-to-date equipment, which will greatly enhance their learning outcomes," said CNC dean of trades and technology Frank Rossi in a press release. "The funds will be used to purchase a range of equipment which will benefit a number of our programs including welding, power engineering, professional chef and more."
