More than 450 people took on the Cutbanks and raised an estimated $50,000 for the Kordyban Lodge during the third annual Climb for Cancer on Saturday.

"The response today was outstanding" said the event's committee chair David Duck.

New this year were trophies to recognize special achievements.

Top fundraising team was the "Winers," led by team Captain Richard Cox. The team raised $4,443 and earned the honour of taking home the Kordyban Cup. "Winers" team member Maureen Cox received the Spirit Award.

The second most-productive team was "The Mighty Ducks" who raised $2,675.

Donations are still being accepted and organizers will come up with a final overall tally at a later date.

The fastest male climber was Tyson Williams who made it to the top in four minutes 11 seconds. The fastest female was Mary Maclay at 4:53.

At 79 years old, Uta Uta Schuller was the oldest climber and at just two years old, Jacob Hall and Harrison Neufeld tied for the youngest climbers.

The fastest male climber did the hill in 4:11 while the fastest climb by a female clocked 4:53.

Members of the Prince George Fire Rescue Local 1372, kept everyone fed during the four hour event, cooking up hot dogs and burgers on the grill, or dishing out hot chili for those who needed a bit of a warm up on an otherwise windy and chilly day.

"The efforts of everyone involved are so important for the Kordyban Lodge which costs about $70 thousand dollars a month to operate," said Duck.
