City hit with large power outage

A fault at B.C. Hydro's Foothills substation knocked out power for 4,555 customers in Prince George on Thursday afternoon. B.C. Hydro spokesperson Bob Gammer said the outage happened around 2:30 p.m.

A fault at B.C. Hydro's Foothills substation knocked out power for 4,555 customers in Prince George on Thursday afternoon.

B.C. Hydro spokesperson Bob Gammer said the outage happened around 2:30 p.m.

The outage covered much of the west side of the city, stretching from Miworth to Vance Road and University Way – including much of the commercial corridors along Highway 16 and 97.

Gammer said the cause of the fault is under investigation. Power was restored across the city by approximately 4 p.m.
