A Prince George man is facing 10 charges after allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen van.

Counts against Chad David Parkinson, 31, include dangerous driving causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle and three counts of mischief $5,000 or under.

He was apprehended Friday afternoon after a van had been reported stolen from a Babine Crescent home in the Spruceland neighbourhood. The van's owner was seriously injured during the theft, police said.

About 20 minutes later, it was seen on Highway 16 near Kimball Road on the city's west side. When RCMP activated their emergency equipment, the driver took off at a high speed and went into the Blue Spruce RV Park where it hit two metal gates and a police vehicle before running into a group of trees. The suspect fled on foot but was quickly caught, RCMP said.

Parkinson, who has a criminal record, remained in custody as of Tuesday.
