Friends of Thomas

Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day the Railway and Forestry Museum, 850 River Rd., is hosting Friends of Thomas Days with a pancake breakfast from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and a barbecue from noon to 3 p.m.  Trains are dressed up to transform into Friends of Thomas. Enjoy the mini rail rides, a Thomas film fest while munching on popcorn, crafts, story telling, and many more fun treats. Access North Day

Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dougherty Creek join Tabor Mountain Recreation Society & Spinal Cord Injury BC to celebrate the newly expanded Great-West Life Mobility Trail and launch of the accessible campground project at Dougherty Creek. Come out to experience the natural beauty and tranquillity of the area during this fun filled event and find out more about outdoor recreational opportunities. Barbecue and refreshments by donation. Giant Thrift Shop Sale

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the basement of St. Michael's Anglican Church Thrift Store, 1505 Fifth Ave., there is a giant sale where customers can fill a bag by donation. Items include books, clothing, housewares, and miscellaneous items. 

Charity Golf Tournament

Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Carrier Sekani Family Services will host a fundraising golf tournament at Aspen Grove Golf Course for the Children's Emergency Fund. There are three $10,000 hole-in-one prizes, a Harley Davidson hole-in-one and a Ford vehicle hole-in-one. Registration includes a barbecue, 18 holes of golf and door prizes. Entry fee is $85. Geroy Simon and JR LaRose appearance

Friday at 5:30 p.m. the Prince George Legion branch No. 43, 1116 Sixth Avenue, presents a special event where guests can meet BC Lions alumni Geroy Simon and JR LaRose at 5:30 p.m. where they will sign autographs and pose for pictures. Autographed hats will be on sale for $10. Two jerseys, two footballs and three helmets - all autographed - will be raffled off. There is limited seating for this and tickets are first come first served at the legion when it's open Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m, or Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Caledonia Ramblers hike

Sunday at 7 a.m. the group is hosting a hike to the Vineyards, a moderate to strenuous hike with an elevation gain of 872 metres (2,859 feet) to the first summit, 6.8 km from the trailhead. The trail opens onto a meadow where alpine flowers are particularly spectacular at this time of the summer. This is about an eight-hour day. Meet at the city hall parking lot 10 minutes before the departure time of 7 a.m. Car pool fee is $15. Club membership is $30 per year plus $7 for each additional family member. Heartbeat

Every community experiences death by suicide. When an intentionally self-inflicted death occurs families and friends suffer a magnitude of isolated, complicated grief. Because the grief that follows suicide is different from grief resulting from other causes of death the Canadian Mental Health Association formed HEARTBEAT, a group of mutual support for those who have suffered loss through suicide. Beginners Yoga 101
