The Punjabi Canadian Senior Society's Bike-A-Thon is back for the sixth year in a row with a round trip to Purden Lake.

The fundraiser for northern health care has raised more than $40,000 over five years, all of which is donated to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

This year's event on Sept. 12 will focus its funds towards the annual Radiothon (on Sept. 24), which has a goal of getting two pieces of state-of-the-art equipment: an OptosOCT SLO system and a California UWF unit.

"Young and old alike will benefit from the comprehensive diagnostic capabilities that this equipment provides," a Spirit of the North press release said.

The Bike-A-Thon will leave at 7 a.m. for Purden Lake and returns in the afternoon.
