Alleged puppy theft leads to more charges

A man faces several charges as a result of a police investigation that began with a reported theft of a puppy. Ryan Timothy Chiappe, 36, was arrested Dec. 5 after police pulled him over and found the allegedly stolen dog in his vehicle.

A man faces several charges as a result of a police investigation that began with a reported theft of a puppy.

Ryan Timothy Chiappe, 36, was arrested Dec. 5 after police pulled him over and found the allegedly stolen dog in his vehicle. Prince George RCMP then executed a search warrant on a Minotti Drive home associated with Chiappe and found two stolen motor bikes.

As a result, Chiappe faces two counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000. He also faces one count each of assault causing bodily harm, assault, obstructing justice, extortion and uttering threats.

Chiappe was released from custody by the court on conditions, including that he not to be within 50 kilometres of Prince George except to attend court. Chiappe also continues to face four counts of possession of a controlled substance in Port Coquitlam.
