Police and volunteers have registered more than 500 bicycles through the 529 Garage program, Prince George RCMP said Wednesday.

And they're not stopping there.

Opportunities for owner to get their bikes registered will occur tonight at Canadian Tire, 5-7 p.m., on Saturday at the Pidherny trails lower parking lot, 1-4 p.m. and on Sunday at the band shell at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In the first two months 529 Garage has been operating, police and volunteers have attended 21 events and have registered 528 bikes.

The free registration process takes about five minutes and includes essential information including the ownership details, serial number and photos of the bicycle.

In the event of a theft, the information can easily be distributed to other registered riders through an alert feature on the smart phone app.

The information can also be easily provided to both the police and insurance companies.
