For the second time in less than two days, Prince George Fire Rescue has been called to the scene of a suspicious house fire in the Hart Highway area.

Just before midnight late Friday night, fire crews were dispatched to extinguish a blaze in a home in the 2800 block of Nixon Crescent. Fifteen firefighters from three halls responded to the call and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.

No occupants were in the house when the fire started. PGFR assistant chief Peter Brbot reported that although the flames were extinguished quickly, the fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the house.

It is believed to be the same residence in which an early-morning fire Thursday caused significant damage to the attached carport and a vehicle.

Arson is suspected in two other house fires that hit the city in the past three days.

A carport and the vehicle parked inside it were damaged in a blaze at a Michael Road home near North Nechako Road at about 4:15 a.m. Friday morning. A fire early Wednesday morning damaged a home in the 1200 block of Johnson Street.

No one was hurt in any of the fires.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
