The White Swan Music Festival brings music and classic vehicles to the shores of Fraser Lake. On July 12 and 13 the purr of cars and guitars share the spotlight. The car component happens that Sunday with registration at 10:45 at the Tourism Info Centre followed by a cruise of the village to qualify for lunch and prizes.

The music begins on the Saturday at 10 a.m. and carries on until 6 p.m. the following day. Acts include Vern Charlton, Mud River, Peter Ouellette, Madd Dog and Moe, Special Delivery, Bryan Worrall and Ron Meadows, Lakeview Bible Chapel, Les Delawski and MC Buckshot Bob.

The city's "annual transformational music festival" flowers on July 18 and 19. More than 40 acts are scheduled including Benedict Beattie, Seedspark, Siab, Silent Union, Goodnightmare, Monte Martens, Vespers, Circadian Rhythms, DJ BreO, and many others. Some are local some are visitors.

Organizers promise an array of "visionary art and installations, acoustic and electronic music, performance arts, vibrant dance floors, magical trails" and many other features.

The Two Rivers Gallery hosts a pair of new exhibitions for summer, by artists from both sides of the country. Ontario photography artist Andrzej Maciejewski's exhibition entitled Garden of Eden and Prince George artist Phil Morrison's solo exhibition of sculptures entitled Heaven. Hunger. Heart. will both open to the public on July 24th at 7.30pm.

The Community Arts Council's artisan shoppe has a new feature exhibition about to open. Painter Geoff Brasier will hold a reception and discussion about his processes on July 10 at 7 p.m. at the CAC's Studio 2880 facility. His show is entitled At the Ocean's Edge.

Fraser Lyric Opera presents its first performance: "A Night At The Opera". The Canfor Theatre at UNBC will be host for an evening of beloved arias and ensembles - featuring guest soprano Breanna Temple and Prince George's very own mezzo soprano Melanie Nicol. Tickets are $15 and will be a available at the door or you can email fraserlyricopera@gmail.com to reserve your tickets today.

The seventh annual Salmon Valley Women's Festival happens Aug. 8 to 10 at the Rockin's River Resort located near the blue bridge on the Hart Highway about 20 minutes north of the city.

The event includes arts and entertainment components, tarot reading, empowering workshops, fire circle, vendors and much more.

Art Space has a three-night flurry of activity for midsummer, and more acts being added all the time. First up is The Ventanas on July 31, followed by Fish And Bird on Aug.5 and the Bidini Band on Aug. 6.

Alice In Chains is coming to the BC Northern Exhibition. The grunge growlers hit the Seattle sound out of the 1990s ballpark and they are bringing the revamped modern edition to CN Centre on Aug. 10. Buy a ticket to the concert, get a free ticket to the BCNE that day as well.

Also on the stage at the Alice In Chains event are supporting acts Monster Truck and The Pack A.D.

In addition to its slate of regularly featured artists, Groop Gallery has a special exhibition coming up on Thursday night. Phantasmagoria is Benjamin Blanchard's foray into fable, fiction and fantasy through visual images. The show runs until August 10. He will be at the gallery (1127 3rd Avenue) at 7:30 p.m. to discuss his work in person on opening night.

God Save The Queen is touring the world, one of the few tribute acts that get star status. On September 12, Prince George bites the dust.

This extravaganza of Queen, one of the most flamboyant and best-selling rock acts of all time, is a spectacle unto itself.

God Save The Queen is billed as "an astonishingly accurate replication of the performances staged by Freddie and Queen, down to the light cues, the costumes and even a replica of the Red Special, the guitar Brian May used."

Phil Murphy (Queen's tour manager), described God Save the Queen: "They are as good as the real thing".

Bill Heckle, of Liverpool, England's, Mathew Street Festival said, "They are the best tribute band of all the tribute bands in the world!"

Two Rivers Gallery has a pair of feature exhibitions in their final weeks of viewing. The annual juried art exhibition Earthly is on until July 13. Built on the theme "we are the earth," various artists earned inclusion for their interpretive creations. Some of the names include: Andrea Fredeen, Anna-Maria Lawrie, Annerose Georgeson, Claire Kujundzic, Gerda Volz, and many more from region and the province.

Also open until July 13 is Three Seasons by Richard Watts. Gallery curators described his show thus: "Using vulcanized latex made from rubber tree sap from Burma, and layers of gauze Ontario artist Richard Watts creates "skins" of natural and man made objects. Eerie and ethereal, these skins of rocks, old boats, trees and abandoned farmhouses are translucent, catching the light and becoming tapestries of ancient histories in their own right."

Popular children's characters Toopy and Binoo will be live in P.G. on October 23 at the CN Centre. Tickets go on sale June 6 at CN Centre box office, Studio 2880 and Ticketmaster online.

Toopy and Binoo were born on the pages of books by Dominique Jolin, then became television stars starting in 2005. Now the live stage show is touring western Canada for the first time.

The African Children's Choir returns to Prince George on July 25. Their rousing choral voice and inspirational story takes them all over the world raising funds and awareness for important causes on the African continent. They have been a popular attraction in previous P.G. appearances.

Their performance here will be at the Evangelical Free Church (4590 5th Ave.) at 7 p.m.
