The world-famous musical hilarity of the British comedy group is coming to the Prince George stage this weekend, just in time to catch a historic break.

Not since they were BBC sensations in the 1960s and '70s has the actual Monty Python cast been so popular. Their self-proclaimed final show together as a group was held this weekend, broadcast around the world, including to Famous Players theatre in Prince George where some of the cast of Judy Russell's stage production were given a spotlight.

Spamalot incorporates much of the plot-line and iconic jokes from the Monty Python group's hit movie The Holy Grail, which splatters the legends of King Arthur with quirky British humour. You'll see French soldiers taunting Arthur and his merry men, you'll see a confrontation with the Knights who say Ni, there's something about a watery tart who throws a sword, and so many of the signature lines that Monty Python fans love to tell and retell.

Tonight is opening night for Prince George's own telling. Russell is fresh off a string of hit shows in the city, including the hilarious Evil Dead: The Musical, the Nutcracker ballet and the major event production of Les Miserables. Now she and her seasoned cast and crew go for the jovial jugular with the ferocity of a killer rabbit.

Tickets to Spamalot are available in advance at Studio 2880 or at the PG Playhouse door while supplies last. Closing night is Aug. 2.
