Northern FanCon is bringing celebrities to Prince George for the first time ever.
There's a star for everyone. Captain James. T. Kirk - William Shatner - will be in town along with the super sultry Tia Carrere of Relic Hunter fame, Michael Hogan, best known as Colonel Saul Tigh in the 2004 Battlestar Galactica series and John De Lancie, a Shakespearean actor famous for roles as divergent as Day of our Lives and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Next up is a character best known in commercials.
He's the Old Spice Guy.
Isaiah Mustafa will be appearing for all three days of Northern FanCon from May 8 to 10 for photo ops with fans. He is the Man Your Man Can Smell Like.
Mustafa was a university football player who expected to become a high school teacher after he graduated. When a sports agent suggested it, he moved on to the the big leagues and made it to NFL practice squads for the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns in 1999. The next year he attended the Seattle Seahawks' training camp.
After that Mustafa turned to acting, playing small roles on TV.
He hit the big time when he made his debut as The Man Your Man Could Smell Like in an Old Spice TV campaign in February 2010. After that NBC signed him and he appeared in Horrible Bosses and hosted the TBS special Funniest Commercials of the Year for 2010 and 2011.
In January 2014, Mustafa continued his work with Old Spice in an ad series whose theme was Interneterventions, where web pages sold false products geared for men, which Mustafa interrupted by suggesting men buy Old Spice instead.
According to his Wikipedia entry, Mustafa is a comic book fan, especially when it comes to Spider-Man and Batman and went as far as naming his daughter in reference to the Batman character Harley Quinn.
Knowing Doctor Doom's first name helped in win $47,000 on the game show The Weakest Link. He used the cash to finance his acting career.
Mustafa is interested in playing comic book super hero Luke Cage and was in a Marvel Comics web short as Cage that mimicked his Old Spice commercials.
