Some say Florida Georgia Line is the best live act going right now and the superstar country duo is coming to Prince George Saturday night to perform at CN Centre.

Best known for their smash hits like six-time platinum Cruise, gold-certified Stay, platinum-certified Get Your Shine On and Round Here, Tyler Hubbard spoke to The Citizen as he and Brian Kelley travel western Canada on the Here's to the Good Times Tour.

"We're excited to be coming to Prince George," said Hubbard. "It's going to be a fun night."

Having met in college, Hubbard and Kelley started writing songs together, then moved into what they dubbed the Fun House and continued to make music together. The rapport between the two is strong and some might say uncanny.

Is it a case of opposites attract or are they like minded?

"I think it's a bit of both," said Hubbard. "I mean, we've got our differences but that brings us together and also we're a lot a like. We were raised a lot alike, have a lot of the same influences, so as far as song writing and performances go we kinda have the same taste."

They know they were brought together to make music.

"It's definitely a good feeling to know that you're out there getting to do what you love with your best friend and living this crazy life together," said Hubbard.

There's a lot of stories from fans about how Florida Georgia Line's music influences people.

"When people tell us about how our music impacts their lives, it makes it so rewarding, so worth it," said Hubbard. "And it's really cool how each person interprets each song into their personal life and whatever they're going through. That's pretty cool to hear that, you know?"

Hubbard said they've got some musical influences in their lives, citing Garth Brooks and Alabama as examples of that, along with hip hop and rock 'n roll, and they like to think they bring those elements into their music in a unique way.

The rise to fame seemed fast but the duo still had to rough it, said Hubbard, playing those smoky-bar gigs for quite a few years just like everybody else.

"Once it took off, it really took off quick and a lot of credit goes to our fans, who are loyal and really spread the word and made it all happen really quickly for us," said Hubbard.

Florida Georgia Line just came off the road recently as support for Jason Aldean's Night Train tour and are now headlining their own tour that began in Abbotsford on April 9.

"We're going to bring a party, you know," said Hubbard about Saturday night at CN Centre. "We try to bring a high energy show every night and usually we feed off the energy of the crowd and they feed off of ours and it's always a good time. We're just hoping to do it big, set some records and have a big party."

Tickets are at all Ticketmaster outlets.
