It isn't over till the little miracle sings.

The romantic comedy with an ear for opera will get a few more arias in before the play fades into golden memory. Miracle Theatre's production of The Last Romance has been held over for an additional week. It will now close on March 12th.

This play - as is the mandate of Miracle Theatre - is a fundraiser for local breast cancer detection and treatment. Each time the Miracle Theatre team of director Ted Price and producer Anne Laughlin puts on a production it is expressly to raise money for local charity.

"The Last Romance tells the story of a long time widower who stumbles upon a dog park," said Laughlin. "There he meets the new love of his life and after much resistance wins her heart. But true love has many surprises, not the least of which is the constant interference of another woman."

All proceeds from this professional theatre production are being donated to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. Funds raised will purchase medical equipment for the city's new breast cancer clinic, which will open this coming fall.

Esther Prosser of Spirit of the North said that, "The Last Romance is a must-see. Not only is this wonderful story very funny and heartfelt, it's a vehicle for greater good. All proceeds are been donated to the new Breast Health Imaging Centre. This important facility will help thousands of local women and men."

For this play, Price and Laughlin have hired some of their favourite actors from across Canada. The leading role is being played by Billy Vickers, who is well known to local audiences. This is the seventh time Price has cast him in a Prince George production.

Joining him as the female lead in this golden-years romance is Vickers' actual wife, the acclaimed actor Karen Wood. Together they spin a story of old habits and traditions getting a second look.

They are helped in the weaving of their tale by actor Sizanne Ristic and singer Jacques Arsenault.

Performances take place at ArtSpace every night except Mondays. ArtSpace has been converted into a 125-seat theatre with tiered seating and a professionally designed stage set.

Tickets are $30 and can be ordered by phone at 250-563-6637 or in person at Books & Company.
