The always sold out Taste of India presented by the Prince George Yellowhead Rotary Club has raised more than $250,000 for Rotary initiatives to date.

The next sold out Celebration of Cuisine, Culture & Community is the sixth annual and takes place Feb. 20 at the Civic Centre with the fundraising focus on Rotary's local and international projects.

This year, funds are directed to the Big Brothers Big Sisters in Prince George for the second phase of the Rotary Clubhouse, located in the basement at 777 Kinsmen Complex that includes installation of a kitchen, a second bathroom, space for an Early Learning Centre and a playground outside.

The first phase was to renovate the space for use by upgrading lights, electrical, fixing walls and installing flooring.

The international projects include water and sanitation improvements in Dhira and Tuni, India. As a partnership with Rotary Clubs in India the projects will provide safe drinking water through the process of reverse osmosis and 135 toilets for a village of 300 families.

"Of course, it can't be done without the generous support of the sponsors that come forward and donate items as well as the community members that step forward to buy tickets for the event," said Jay Lazzarin, president of the Yellowhead Rotary.

"I think it's a reflection of the people of Prince George about how generous they are and we're very thankful for that."
