International music roots are tangled around the feet of Chris Ronald. He plants some of those shoots in Prince George tonight.

The up-and-coming soloist has garnered a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination (for Songwriter of the Year, no less). In the past year alone he has performed in Denmark, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and various corners of B.C. That adds to his already long list of countries and provinces that have known his singing voice.

Chris Ronald has four full albums to his credit: Pacific Time (2004), Turning Tides (2011), Timeline (2014), and his latest is Fragments (brand new).

Hailing from England, he brought his poetic troubadour heart to Canada a couple of years before his first album came out. It was here he became a songwriter for the first time and here he first committed his creativity to record. Each new project has expanded his critical acclaim and made him a busier and busier performer around his adopted hometown of Vancouver.

He has never performed in Prince George, however. That changes tonight when he takes the stage at Nancy O's. He'll have along his guitar, his ukulele, his harmonica and a London fog voice that conjures up the acoustic ghosts of Jim Croce, Gerry Rafferty, and public house guitar prophets from olden days.

If you miss Chris Ronald tonight in Prince George (tickets $10, showtime 8:30 p.m.), the fragments of his northern tour are scattered like this:

Tonight: Nancy O's.

Saturday: Wheelhouse Brewing Company, Prince Rupert.

Tuesday: Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse, Terrace.

July 6: Mountain Eagle Books, Smithers.

July 7: Bulkley Canyon Ranch, New Hazelton.

July 8: Bear's Paw Cafe, Wells.
