Father Gabriel is coming to bless his followers.

Seth Gilliam, the actor who portrays the troubled man of the cloth on the hit zombie series The Walking Dead, will greet fans in Prince George during this year's Northern FanCon in Prince George from May 5 to 7.

For 47 episodes and counting, dating back to 2014, Gilliam has beamed into millions of homes each week as Father Gabriel Stokes, a man of the cloth who struggles with issues of faith as he is confronted by the zombies who terrorize the surviving humans.

He also struggles with his conscience after selfishly causing the deaths of many who turned to him for support, only to be ignored by the fearful priest.

As this weighs on his mind, though, Stokes is evolving into a helper of the main flock of humans as they band together for protection against the undead epidemic.

This character was also in the foundational comic book series, so fans were waiting eagerly to find out who would play Gabriel Stokes, should that ever be written into the television series.

There was another round of critical applause - The Walking Dead has won nearly universal praise for its writing, cinematography and acting - when such a seasoned and dependable actor was slotted into the role.

Gilliam was announced as the Stokes actor during the 2014 edition of Comic-Con in San Diego.

Gillam has been an actor on a number of significant shows.

He was one of the stalwart members of the crack detective crew in The Wire - some say the best TV crime drama ever filmed (fair salute to Breaking Bad).

Gilliam was also a regular on another series considered possibly the best in it's genre - the prison drama Oz. Along with a recurring role on two of the Law & Order franchise shows, he's also been in the films Courage Under Fire (with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan), Starship Troopers (with Casper Van Dien, Neil Patrick Harris, Denise Richards), Still Alice (with Julianne Moore and Kate Bosworth), and many others.

Currently, while balancing his commitment to The Walking Dead, he is a regular cast member on the popular youth drama Teen Wolf, watched weekly on the MTV network, portraying mentor figure Dr. Alan Deaton.

Along with Gillam, this year's Northern FanCon lineup at CN Centre and the adjacent Kin Centres includes the voice of Super Mario, Charles Martinet; another Walking Dead alumnus Alicia Witt; Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo; cosplay star Leeanna Vamp; costume artist for the DC universe on television, Andy Poon; Mass Effect voice and Irrelevant Show cast member, Mark Meer; and acclaimed heartthrob Karl Urban of Lord Of The Rings, Star Trek, the Disney remake of Pete's Dragon now out on Netflix, and the title role in the latest Dredd movie about the dystopian comic book action hero.

Tickets to attend are on sale now at CN Centre box office and online via Ticketmaster.
